Environmental Conservation
We are all aware that trees have several advantages, such as releasing oxygen into the air, absorbing carbon dioxide from the air and purifying it, shielding us from UV rays, preventing soil erosion, preserving ecological balance, and, most importantly, decreasing the consequences of global warming.
Every scientific explanation has a traditional fair or celebration in India, and on the hill, we celebrate it as Harela. The SBK Society plants during the Harela festival (rainy season) each year. Planting trees is not only something that should be done; rather, it is an essential need of the moment.
Another problem the residents of the hill face is forest fires. By organising plantation drives, it is hoped to increase residents’ understanding of the benefits of turning pine forests into fruitful jungles.
More than 20,000 plants have been planted in the district office by the Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Society during the past three years. This was not accomplished by just us; a team of young and old volunteers have consistently assisted us, and with their help, the organisation is helping Mother Nature. We now arrange these plants from outside, but we are now encouraging the locals to establish their own nursery so that businesses like ours may buy it from them. Additionally, we want to work with the district horticulture department to teach these folks and assist them in finding work.
